TREND WATCH: AT LONDON FASHION WEEK

Metallics are everywhere in fashion right now. Clothing, accessories and make-up all have a little sheen to them. And Metallics are most definitely everywhere at London Fashion Week for A/W 12.

With many designers bringing molten-like metallics they are making their presence known, in form of dresses and skirts.

Most designers combined variations of silver and gold, the trend experiencing an inspirational combination of colour thanks to design superstars like Antoni Berardi who infused luxurious tones of turquoise blue. Berardi presented a collection of beautiful shapes and curves, sculpted to the body: a sophisticated way to wear metallics. Berardi’s A/W collection was a little fiercer using column dresses embellished with sequins which resembled chest plates, giving a futuristic warrior like feel.

Issa London - A/W 12 collection

Most designers made the metallic embellishment on their outfits look dainty, feminine and elegant. Like Issa London, who used a “fit and flare” structured dress with double layering to emphasise the figure of the model. I really love this dress and is my favourite from her A/W collection. I love the fitting of the dress; complete with a rich paisley pattern with the duck egg blue satin finish gives it a reflective metallic feel.

Felder Felder - A/W 12 collection

This chunky knit jumper in this gorgeous blush pink/nude colour clashes beautifully with the rose gold metallic leather skater skirt designed by Felder Felder . This outfit is quite muted itself and it’s nothing innovative, but it’s so cute.

Jason Conran - A/W 12 collection

Jason Conran’s A/W collection is full of bronzy brown colours which is great because it’s not at all boring with the glisten of the metallics. I like the texture of this piece, you can tell what sort of material it is by looking at the image, and even though it’s metallic it seems a quite matte material.  I love the detail of the bow and where it’s placed, instead of a collar. I’m not to sure about the silhouette and the style of the dress; I just think it doesn’t look right with the bow and then the drop down waist.
